Khalid has been having a hell of a run. Last year, the young talent solidified his presence with the stellar American Teen, which went platinum with no features; not only that, but Khalid found himself holding down a performance of “1-800-273-8255 ” at the Grammy Awards alongside Logic, a worthy look for any aspiring superstar. In short, Khalid’s resume is starting to shape up, and at only twenty years old, the singer has barely even started to approach his prime. Luckily, he shows no sign of slowing down, confirming on Beats 1 that his sophomore project is currently in the works.
Speaking with Matt Wilkinson, Khalid reveals that he has been eying a few collaborators this time around, although he opts to remain secretive. “I can’t lie and say it’s not in the works, and I can’t lie and say that I don’t have ideas of who I would want to be a part of it. There are so many amazing artists that I met, and that I’ve been blessed to even be in the same room as them.” He reveals he’s thinking of grabbing a few familiar faces, so perhaps another Logic collaboration is something we might be seeing.
Khalid also reveals that the album will be a “personal” experience, saying he’s excited to share a new side of himself to his fans. “I feel like this second album, the nameless album, is going to be so different for me, but it’s going to be better for me.” When asked about release date, Khalid teases the autumn, dubbing it “the perfect time for music.”
As for whether his ideal timeframe comes to fruition, that’s another story.
