If you haven’t yet seen Avengers: Infinity War, avert your eyes. Those familiar with the game-changing film no doubt remember when Thanos essentially came through drippin’, obliterating half the planet’s population (including animals) in one fell swoop; the rare Marvel movie where the “villain” comes out on top. It was a heartbreaking conclusion to be sure, and one that proved Marvel was willing to go to a darker place than perhaps initially expected. Plus, it’s refreshing to see Josh Brolin’s Thanos take on such a prominent role, as the studio has occasionally been criticized over their sometimes shallow antagonists.
That’s not to say the Marvel villlains have been duds; far from it. In fact, Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger, main antagonist of Black Panther, has been praised as one of the entire MCU’s most complex and compelling characters thus far. And while Jordan has been enjoying a boost in success following his turn as the warrior, it’s clear he still holds the character dear to his heart. Speaking to The AV Club, Michael B. Jordan addressed a common fan question on whether or not Killmonger would have held his own against Thanos:
While Killmonger is definitely badass, it seems unlikely that he’d stand any real chance against the mad titan. Still, you have to admire the dedication, and it would have been great seeing him hold it down for Wakanda in the climactic battle against Thanos’ forces.
