Over the past few years, there have been dozens of hip-hop clues featured on the long-running quiz show Jeopardy! Formerly hosted by the late Alex Trebek, the quiz competition is now presented former winner Ken Jennings and features three contestants who are given information in the form of answers and they must respond correctly in the form of clues.
With hip-hop’s rising popularity in the mainstream, more and more rap and rapper-related clues have appeared on the show in the past several years. In 2015, Fetty Wap and Iggy Azalea-related clues were featured on the game show. In April of 2016, a clue featuring Organized Noize, the Atlanta-based production crew made up of Rico Wade, Ray Murray and Sleepy Brown, were featured on the show.
Some of rap’s biggest names have also been featured in clues such as Eminem, Drake and Lil Wayne, at times leading contestants who have knowledge of the culture closer to victory, and other times making the lesser informed people lose out on big payouts for sometimes hilariously wrong answers.
Even producers are getting Jeopardy moments. Hitmakers like Sonny Digital, Future and the late Shock G have been mentioned in clues on the show.
The amount of hip-hop info on Jeopardy! over the years may surprise you. Beastie Boys, Jay-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., Dr. Dre, Public Enemy, Grandmaster Flash, Cypress Hill, Nicki Minaj and a lot more have seen their names on the famed blue screen.
