Attorney Bonnie Smith said in a press conference Sunday that eight corrections officers were prevented from guarding or even interacting with Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer charged in George Floyd’s death. The jail said corrections staff immediately expressed concerns and the decision was reversed within 45 minutes.
