Dave Grohl to Reunite Surviving Nirvana Members for Art of Elysium Benefit

Beck, St. Vincent & Grohl’s daughter Violet will also be joining him.

Nirvana fans are in for a real treat this weekend at Art of Elysium's 13th annual "Heaven Is Rock & Roll" gala, as surviving members Krist Novoselic (bass) and Pat Smear (guitar) have been confirmed as part of the "Dave Grohl & Friends" performance at the benefit. Beck, St. Vincent and Grohl's daughter Violet will also be joining him.

Last month, a nondescript "Grohl & Friends" was announced alongside Marilyn Manson, Cheap Trick and L7 as the evening's performers. The last time the longtime Nirvana drummer played onstage with Novoselic and Smear was at Cal Jam 2018 in San Bernardino, Calif., when the trio broke into their throwbacks for a six-song encore set with vocal assists from Joan Jett and Deer Tick's John McCauley.

"The generosity of all these artists has left us speechless" said Linda Perry and Kerry Brown, CEOs of We Are Hear (2020 Visionary award recipient and subsequent evening curator) in a press release. "We wanted to create a truly unique experience with The Art Of Elysium, the way they help people in need triumph through art is rare and beautiful."

The Art of Elysium benefit will be held Saturday at the Hollywood Palladium. For more information, visit the official Heaven 2020 event page here.
