The Naked and Famous release a cynical synth-pop jam as the duo's latest single "Bury Us" today (Jan. 16) ahead of their forthcoming album Recover, due in May.
"Bury Us" gives the verses a dreamy flare with autotuned, echoed harmonies while the hook is a melodic, danceable burst that breaks down the stages two people in a relationship go through ("Heartbreak/ bliss, hysteria") and orders to understand where the relationship is heading before it ruins them both.
The highlighted track from Recover speaks to the LP's main theme of human survival and self-preservation, especially at the hands of another person who could bring you down.
The lyric video for "Bury Us" has a chaotic Fruit Ninja effect to it, where pineapples, kiwis, strawberries, and other assorted fruit are either chopped nicely or slashed haphazardly before becoming an overwhelming fruit salad.
