SiriusXM announced on Thursday (Feb. 6) that Pearl Jam is set to take the stage of the iconic Apollo Theater next month for an exclusive show.
The invitation-only concert for SiriusXM subscribers and Pandora listeners, taking place on March 26, will mark the first time the legendary rockers have ever performed at the historic venue, and will occur just hours prior to the release of the band's eleventh studio album, Gigaton. (Airing live on Pearl Jam's SiriusXM station, the performance will be followed by the LP's exclusive nationwide premiere on the channel, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary on the satellite radio platform.)
"We are incredibly humbled and honored to take the stage at the legendary Apollo Theater,” lead guitarist Stone Gossard said in a statement. “We look forward to a memorable show to celebrate Gigaton and the 10-year anniversary of Pearl Jam Radio at SiriusXM. It’s hard to ov]erstate the sacred and historical importance of the Apollo to the history of American popular music and African Americans' preeminent role in its invention. We will play this special one time show with those artists in mind."
Pearl Jam fans can win tickets to the exclusive show by listening on-air to Pearl Jam Radio (Sirius channel 22), as well as through their qualified emails from SiriusXM. (Days later, the band will embark on the U.S. leg of their upcoming Pearl Jam 2020 tour.)
