On the heels of releasing their BCG Algorithm, Vol. 1 compilation project, Stalley and Life Dutchee return to Brooklyn for the “Used To” video, which premieres below on Billboard.
With Dutchee calling Brooklyn home and later meeting Stalley in the NYC borough, it was an easy decision to shoot the rugged flick in BK, where the Ohio native also resided for 18 years. “It felt great shooting this video in Brooklyn, Dutchee’s hometown and my second home,” Stalley relays. “A lot of people don’t know I lived in Brooklyn for 18 years, so it was like a homecoming for me being able to shoot in some of my old stomping grounds as well.”
Whether it’s Dutchee pulling up the hood in a Wraith for the “Funk Master Flex” video or rhyming underneath the city’s subway tracks in broad daylight here, his authenticity always bleeds through. It’s traits like that which made Stalley’s decision to bring Dutchee into the Blue Collar Gang family a no-brainer.
“What stood out to me about Dutchee is the hunger he has to outrap everyone,” Stalley explains of inking Dutchee to BCG. “Dutchee embodies Brooklyn and NYC in every way. He reminds me of the guy everyone know but doesn’t really know, which is a Brooklyn trait. He’s an incredible emcee who has it all — wit, punchlines, storytelling, metaphors and all-around raw lyricism.”
BCG plans to flood the market with more music, tours, and visuals for the rest of 2020. For now, check out the “Used To” video below.
