With her sophomore album less than a month away, Dua Lipa is pushing hard to keep her momentum surging this New Music Friday.
First off, the collab-inclined pop star appeared today (March 6) on a brand new remix of Brockhampton‘s Hot 100 hit, “Sugar.” Dua first enters after the first chorus, piggy-backing off Dom McLennon’s opening line from the original (“I move mountains on my own, don’t need nobody help”) and proceeding to re-work the rest of the lyrics behind her own soulful vocals.
She then shows up throughout the remix, duetting with frequent Brockhampton collaborator Ryan Beatty on the chorus. (And Dua isn’t the only guest; ’90s R&B star Jon B sings alongside Bearface on a reworked third verse.)
“Sugar” has been on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart for eight weeks, though it slipped to No. 100 this week after climbing as high as 66 earlier this year. Will the added star power will give it a second wind on the tally? Give the remix a listen below.
Meanwhile, Lipa’s ’80s-indebted synthpop single “Physical” now has a second music video to go along with the original from January. This one’s billed as a “work out video” and it absolutely fits that bill, blending modern day Peleton pump-up energy with retro Jane Fonda VHS vibes.
“Physical” was the second single released off Dua’s forthcoming LP Future Nostalgia, due April 3.
