Trippie Redd and Blackbear also feature.
Cheat Codes premiered the music video for their new single “No Service in the Hills” on Thursday (April 16), and it’s a whole lot of bloody fun.
In the clip directed by Bella Thorne, the three DJs (Kevi, Trevor Dahl and Matthew Russell using his new Prince$$ Rosie alias) head to a cabin in the woods, where a casual boys night in turns into something straight out of a horror comedy when the house is invaded by a trio of murderous mask-wearing girls wielding a spiked bat, throwing knives and a swinging mace.
“It’s no service in the hills/ I can’t hit you back/ You gon’ have to chill/ Tryna make another mill / I just can’t relax/ I might take a pill,” Blackbear croons on the guest-featured chorus as the guys hilariously attempt to fight back against their assailants.
“I was stoked when Trevor reached out to me through social media to direct this video. I am beyond proud of these talented guys and was a fan from the onset,” Thorne tells Billboard of her directorial debut. “The video is a creative collaboration. My sister and I wrote the treatment and the guys gave their artistic input all the way to the edit room, which was done virtually, due to the ‘Safer At Home Order.'”
Thorne adds that the team actually wrapped shooting one day before California went into quarantine. “It’s been a surreal experience and I can’t wait for everyone to see the very theatrical performance,” she says.
Also featuring a guest verse by Trippie Redd, “No Service in the Hills” serves as Cheat Codes’ first single since “Highway,” their 2019 collaboration with Sofia Reyes and Willy William, as well as their sophomore EP Level 2.
