T3R Elemento & Farruko's 'Del Barrio a la Ciudad': Exclusive Premiere

The urban regional Mexican movement has recently gained unprecedented popularity thanks to a revamped version of traditional corridos giving them an urban twist and up-and-coming regional Mexican singers who are open to collaborations with urbano powerhouses.

On Friday (April 17), regional Mexican group T3R Elemento and reggaetón star Farruko join forces for their new corrido sirreño “Del Barrio a la Ciudad” — premiering exclusively on Billboard above — which further solidifies the movement.

The collab was made possible thanks to DEL Records founder Angel del Villar, T3R Elemento’s label and producer Alex Gárgola, who sent the song to Farruko. “He liked the song and so he wanted to jump on it,” del Villar said. “Farruko had been wanting to do something like this and this song caught his attention.” It’s the first time the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter has tapped into the regional Mexican genre.

When T3R Elemento’s 19-year-old lead singer Kris Nava found out that Farruko was interested in collaborating, he told his manager (del Villar), “Bring it on,” Nava recalls. “I don’t turn down any opportunity to collab with artists even if they sing another genre.”

“Del Barrio a la Ciudad” was penned by Héctor Enrique Guerrero Sarmiento, Farruko, del Villar and Franklin Martinez. “My fans are not going to expect this. I think they will like it and will be curious to hear this new song we made for them with Farruko. It’s a game-changer.”

Above, Billboard exclusively premieres T3R Elemento and Farruko’s “Del Barrio a la Ciudad,” which drops on all streaming platforms Monday.
