Aaron Carter took to social media on Tuesday (April 21) to announce that he’s about to become a dad.
“Obviously I have a baby on the way,” the star told fans during an Instagram Live, showing the camera girlfriend Melanie Martin’s positive pregnancy test. “I’m going to be a busy father for sure…This is the official announcement, we’re pregnant.”
Carter later opened up about the news in an interview with People, saying, “This is what we both want. We both were trying for it. I’m just focused on the future and being a dad. I want to be a good dad. I’m focused, my music career has been doing really well, and touring, having my clothing line out, all that stuff I have going for me that isn’t necessarily just music. Family is most important to me.”
While the singer/rapper made his relationship with Martin official back in January, his most recent studio album, Love, was released in 2018. He also dropped two non-album singles in 2019 titled “Anything x Kid Carter” and “Sensational Love x Kid Carter.”
In recent years, Carter has also been embroiled in a highly public legal dispute with brother Nick Carter — with the Backstreet Boys member seeking a restraining order against his younger brother in Sept. 2019 amid allegations that Aaron was threatening violence against his wife and then-unborn child. Aaron’s twin sister, Angel Carter, was also granted a temporary restraining order against the singer in Nov. 2019.
