Mac Miller’s breakout mixtape “K.I.D.S” continues to live on, securing its first-ever placement on the Billboard 200 charts.
In a bittersweet turn, an artist’s death can often play a role in boosting their popularity, as fans eagerly revisit entire catalogs in an attempt to reconnect. As sadly passed away in 2018, listening to his earlier work has become rather difficult — especially given how his formative tapes are so full of joie de vivre and youthful exuberance. Not long ago, the now-classic mixtape was finally released on official streaming services for the first time, prompting a renewed interest in the 2010 project. So much so that the tape managed to slide onto the Billboard 200 charts, clocking in at number 112. Not bad, considering the tape celebrated its tenth birthday at the end of April, and a testament to the loyalty of Mac Miller’s day one fanbase.
