Uplifting Latin Moments Music This Week (May 30)

From career milestones and new music releases to major announcements and more, Billboard editors highlight the latest news buzz in Latin music every week.

Here’s what happened in the Latin music world this week.

Thalia dropped a new children’s album

Six years after dropping her Latin Grammy-nominated children’s album Viva Kids Vol.1, Thalia presents part two. Composed entirely by Thalia, Viva Kids Vol.2 is home to 15 colorful and playful songs for kids of all ages.

“I have a lot of fun creating music for kids,” Thalia said in a statement. “When I was little, my parents joined me to sing and dance songs that brought me a lot of joy, and that’s what I want to convey with this album. As a mother, I know that, in these times of quarantine, it is difficult to keep children motivated, and you always have to reinvent yourself to keep them active. My intention is that families come together, and children can have fun with all the colors and magic that these songs bring. I also thought it was meaningful for me to be able to deliver this project earlier in order to support all mothers in their mouth,” said the singer.

The Wailers returned with “One World, One Prayer”

Jamaican band The Wailers released their inspirational track “One World, One Prayer” with powerful lyrics that focus on unity, love, and inclusion beyond cultural differences. Produced and written by Emilio Estefan about two years ago, “One World, One Prayer” is an urban-tinged reggae song in collaboration with Farruko, Shaggy, Cedella Marley, and Skip Marley.

“Who would have thought that we would be living in this current situation and that the message of ‘One World, One Prayer’ would resonate so strongly?” Estefan said in a statement. “We need to appreciate the simple things in life and especially the love that begins with our families and extends to our community and beyond … because in the end, we are all One World, One Heart!”
