The Fort Worth honky tonk establishment will kick off a series of Friday and Saturday evening concerts with The Bellamy Brothers on Aug. 14 and Flatland Cavalry on Aug. 15.
Fort Worth bar and venue Billy Bob’s Texas will reopen for concerts next week, starting Aug. 14. The themed honky tonk establishment, located in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, applied for a new permit that would allow the bar to open and operate as a restaurant, under restaurant guidelines.
The news comes after Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott signed an executive order in June forcing establishments that earn 51% or more of their revenue from alcohol sales to close as the state saw a spike in COVID-19 cases.
Billy Bob’s Texas will kick off a series of Friday and Saturday evening concerts next week with an appearance from The Bellamy Brothers on Aug. 14 followed by Flatland Cavalry on Aug. 15. The August schedule also includes performances from Tracy Byrd, Casey Donahew, Chad Prather, Josh Abbott Band and more to be announced.
Upcoming concerts will be limited to 1,200 tickets with the establishment suggesting the capacity could change following the first week of shows. The audience will be made up of 1,000 socially distanced reserved seats and 200 socially-distanced general admission tickets. Without social distancing or COVID safety measures, Billy Bob’s Texas can normally accommodate up to 6,000 guests. All tickets will go on sale this Friday, Aug. 7.
Billy Bob’s has also announced there will be no bull riding shows or valet services at this time.
In order to keep everyone safe, Billy Bob’s intends to follow Centers for Disease Control guidelines, as well as city and state safety mandates. All patrons will be required to wear a mask unless they are seated at their table, where mask wearing will be recommended. All client-facing staff will wear gloves and masks and all employees will be temperature checked at the start of their shifts. Performers and their crews will also be subject to temperature checks. According to the facility’s thorough safety protocols listed on their website, social distancing will be enforced.
