Mary J. Blige Revisits ‘My Life’ in New Documentary

It’s goin’ down.

Over two decades since she released her 1994 album My Life, Mary J. Blige is revisiting her most influential work in the Vanessa Roth-directed documentary Mary J. Blige’s My Life for Amazon Prime Video.

Executive produced by Sean “Diddy” Combs, the 82-minute film explores the “untold story” behind the groundbreaking album, along with the demons and blessings that inspired the record and earned her millions of fans worldwide. The R&B icon also celebrates the 25th anniversary by performing My Life live for the first time.

My Life is probably my darkest album at one of the darkest times I’ve had,” Blige says in the trailer. “Most of the times I was just depressed and didn’t want to live.”

The documentary also features commentary from friends including Diddy, Taraji P. Henson, and Alicia Keys, while Quincy Jones serves as executive music producer.

Mary J. Blige’s My Life premieres June 25 on Amazon Prime Video. Watch the trailer below.
