It’s all good between Snoop Dogg and Eminem.
While promoting his upcoming album The Algorithm, Snoop opened up about his relationship with the Detroit rapper. The “Forgot About Dre†collaborators had a brief fallout after Snoop said Eminem was not deserving of a spot in his top 10 MCs. The “disrespectful†comments angered Em, who clapped back on his song “Zeus.â€
After going back and forth, they were finally able to squash their so-called beef.
“I love Eminem and the thing is, we love hip-hop so much, we competitive,†Snoop said during his appearance on “The Breakfast Club.†“We battle rappers so that was supposed to trigger that in him. But we brothers and we family so learned to appreciate each other for what we do and how we get down.â€
They spoke at length and Snoop took responsibility for his comments. “We had a long conversation about the respect that we have for each other and the way we need to talk in public about each other. And I felt like I was out of pocket,†he admitted. “And I apologized to him and I let him know. And I’m just bettering myself. I make mistakes, I ain’t perfect, I’m Snoop Dogg.â€
Snoop will share the stage with Eminem, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar at the 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. next February. “The Super Bowl performance should be something special because [Dre] really wanna give the people what they want,†said Snoop. “This is an L.A. moment.â€
He revealed some of the songs that may be included in the performance including “California Love,†“Still D.R.E.,†and “Gin and Juice.â€
He also gave credit to JAY-Z, whose company Roc Nation produces the halftime show, for making the moment possible. “Shout out to JAY-Z for making that thang happen, putting the first hip-hop act on the stage. People don’t give him credit for a lot of the things that he do,†he said. “That’s a part of my legacy that he fought for, so I appreciate you.â€
Snoop’s new album Snoop Dogg Presents The Algorithm arrives Nov. 12 featuring the single “Big Subwoofer†with his rap supergroup Mount Westmore, comprised of Ice Cube, E-40, and Too $hort. It will also feature artists from Def Jam’s past, present, and future, plus a possible collaboration with Eminem.
