“Super Bass” goes Diamond.
A decade later, Nicki Minaj’s massive hit has officially earned Diamond certification from the RIAA. Taking to Instagram, the rap queen shared a video of her sparkly plaque for 10 million units sold in the U.S. and celebrated the milestone moment.
“#SuperBassDiamond Thank you for over a decade of support,” Nicki wrote before thanking her fans and those who contributed to the song’s success including Taylor Swift and Ellen DeGeneres. “#Barbz (special thx to Ester Dean, Kane, Juice, Taylor Swift, Sofia Grace & Rosie, Ellen, Young Money/Cash Money & Republic.”
“Super Bass” was released in April 2011 on appeared on the deluxe edition of Nicki’s debut album, Pink Friday.
“This one was released b4 the streaming era, so millions of fans actually purchased the song,” said Nicki while reflecting on the song’s success. “I’m so grateful for you guys. Sending love & blessings your way.”
“Super Bass” becomes one of only 65 songs in history to be certified Diamond by the RIAA.
Nicki is now readying her fifth studio album. She can also be heard alongside Elton John and Young Thug on “Always Love You,” as well as Jesy Nelson’s single “Boyz.”
