White Mountaineering FW23 Was Crazy for Collaborations

Yosuke Aizawa’s cult label White Mountaineering didn’t just present a Fall/Winter 2023 collection, it presented a collaboration collage.

GORE-TEX, Colmar, Danner, Briefing, Gramicci, Merrell, Wild Things, New Era, and a pair of Vans on the model’s feet all debuted as part of the mainline collection, titled “After All.”

Inspired by the beauty of the mountains that the designer spent his time surrounded by during the pandemic, “After All” is a reflection of nature’s tones. High-tech outerwear and shoes clash with low-tech “Manaslu”-branded T-shirts, that every model wore on the closing procession.

But before we got there, White Mountaineering presented us grid co-ord sets comprising W.M.B.C. tech coats and pants, Merrell collab hiking boots in a bold rainbow palette reminiscent of prior adidas collaborations, bomber jackets in wood brown and moss green, flannel checks harking to the mountain ranges, and more.

Colmar outerwear echoed the recent release in its choice of colors, but presented more tactical elements with thinner, glossier materials, while contrasting this was in-house storm flap-bearing duffles and camouflage washes, bringing the collection full circle as something fit for the hills.
