New Balance has honed in on the idea of making sneaker colorways that you can rock with everything in your closet. The brand is set to triple down on its Teddy Santis-helmed Made in USA line throughout 2023, and one of the silhouettes that’s leading the charge is the 990v3. After getting filtered through YCMC for a collaborative project, the model has returned to the spotlight in a fresh black and tan colorway.
Neutral tones are the focus for this upcoming installment and are reminiscent of the tones that brands like JJJJound have used for its New Balance collaborations in the past. Smooth suede overlays and mudguards are treated with solid black while pops of tan accents drizzle over the leather overlays along the collars and toe boxes as well as heel panels that host its “Made in USA†branding. Mesh underlays expand its palette as they are fashioned with a darker brownish-gray mixture, and the laces and interior liners are dialed to a sail-like hue. Rounding off the versatile sneakers is an ENCAP-supported midsole piece that color-blocks between the classic gray and white panels while the treading is done up in black and gray.
