About a month after debuting the track, Logic has followed up with an official music video for “Wake Up†featuring Lucy Rose.
In the visual, the rapper paints a scene of living in a home where one goes largely unnoticed. As he raps directly into the camera, people pass through the living room smoking and yelling. At one point, robbers break into the home and make away with the TV.
The music video, which was directed by Mac Grant and Chad Tennies, illustrates the central theme of “Wake Upâ€: how Logic broke free from a cycle of drugs and violence and the prospect of being stuck in his hometown by pursuing a rap career.
“Can’t get enough, no, I can’t get enough / Took another route, no, I never ended up in cuffs,†he raps. “Had a gat in my hand, but I didn’t wanna be that man / Look in the mirror, couldn’t see that man.â€
“Wake Up†is the first single Logic shared from his forthcoming studio album, College Park. Slated to drop on February 24, the project will land as the Maryland-born artist’s eighth full-length LP.
