It looks like Drake’s exclusive radio station Sound 42 has come to an end on SiriusXM.
RadioInsight reports that the channel has departed the station and now Channel 42 is re-branded as “SiriusXM 42” and currently running “Hip-Hop Chronicles” with “rap’s biggest 500 tracks of all time”.
It’s not yet clear whether they decided to pull it or it was anyway expiring on the end of a term. The latter is a very likely possibility.
The station was launched March 2021 as part of Drake’s big deal with SiriusXM/Pandora that came about in 2019. Over the years, Drizzy and his team used the station to debut several new songs for the first time and even paid a tribute to Sidhu Moose Wala after he was gunned down in Punjab, India in May, 2022.
“It’s something that Scott [Greenstein] from SiriusXM was extremely passionate about from the inception of our partnership,” Drake said in an interview with GQ in 2023. “He’s been so supportive with us as far as Sound 42 goes. And Sirius offers us the opportunity to be heard far and wide, right? Sirius is just the closest thing we have to those days of glory radio moments and I still get a massive amount of joy premiering music when I know that everyone is listening at the same time.”
