New York is no stranger to rap legends, and Mass Appeal arguably knows that better than most. With Nas at the helm of the label, it was only a matter of time before a once-in-a-lifetime campaign around it came our way. Well, it is officially here, and is called Legend Has It…
What is this legend? For starters, you can expect to hear fresh albums from New York rap legends such as Nas & DJ Premier, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, Raekwon The Chef, Big L and De La Soul. Who is the seventh, you ask? We don’t know yet, but Mass Appeal has promised that it will be a surprise that is worth the wait.
While we don’t know who this mystery artist is, we know that Ghostface Killah will certainly be releasing a project that was only rumored to exist: Supreme Clientele 2 — the sequel to his classic 2000 album. Conjunctionally, you can also expect to listen to some gritty bars on Emperor’s New Clothes, a project by fellow Wu Tang legend, Raekwon The Chef.

Mass Appeal’s idea with the project is also to highlight artists that have immortalised their influence through their meticulous dedication and constant gifts to the culture. This is why the first two albums are touted to pay homage to Prodigy and Trugoy The Dove with fresh Mobb Deep and De La Soul albums. Last, but not in the very least, there is a posthumous album by Big L on the way. Watch the fantastic trailer above.
As the label puts it, the series is beyond just making exceptional music; it is history making. Stay tuned to keep up with the developments on this series.
