Drake Seeks Court Order Requiring UMG To Hand Over Kendrick’s Unredacted Contract & Grainge Files

In a new development in the Drake versus UMG case, the rapper has decided to put more pressure on UMG to disclose files Drake and his team deem crucial. The latest move has been made in pursuit of court ordered compliance, which when in effect, will allow Drake’s legal team to access paperwork related to UMG CEO Lucian Grainge as well as Kendrick Lamar‘s non-redacted contract with the label.

The team has additionally requested access to other financial documents pertaining to the case.

These new filings seek to argue that UMG is ‘improperly shielding its CEO from scrutiny,’ and refocuses on the need to examine documents that are central to Drake’s stance in court. The original motion to compel custodial documents specifically requests for 18 documents, and with the new move, pressure is piling on.

As per the request for documents made on June 3, 2025, a total of 75 documents have been requested including documents related to Kendrick Lamar’s alleged history of domestic violence (particularly internal communications around it). But Drake isn’t stopping there — documents have also been requested in relation to Dave Free and his alleged relations to Kendrick’s children. Take a look at the exact documents requested as mentioned in the filing:
