Chicago rapper Mello Buckzz is facing multiple legal charges following her arrest in Chicago on June 15. The artist, whose legal name is Melanie Doyle, was taken into custody after a routine traffic stop escalated into a significant police investigation.
According to reports obtained by XXL, the incident began when officers pulled the rapper over for a tinted windshield violation. During the course of the stop, authorities allegedly discovered a small quantity of marijuana in her purse, alongside an open container of alcohol located on the floor near the passenger seat. The situation intensified when officers reported that the artist became uncooperative, leading to her removal from the vehicle.
Upon conducting a search of the car, law enforcement officials reportedly identified the barrel of a Glock firearm protruding from beneath the driver’s seat. Subsequent investigation confirmed that the weapon had been reported stolen in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Given that the rapper was already on probation for a 2024 case, she is currently being held at the Cook County Jail.
The charges against her include aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of resisting arrest, driving with an obstructed windshield, and transporting open alcohol. She is presently awaiting a scheduled court hearing to address these allegations.
Despite her current incarceration, the artist reached out to her fanbase via a social media message shared on June 19. In the audio recording, she expressed gratitude for the ongoing support and addressed her upcoming project, Pretty Opp, which remains slated for release this week.
“I really wish I was coming to send this message obviously from home but I’m not. Things didn’t go that way. Y’all know I’ve been trying my hardest to rebrand myself and my image. Stumbled across a couple blocks but it’s nothing to a big dog.”
She further encouraged her followers to remain steadfast, stating, “I’m just asking and thanking y’all in advance for all the support and everything and keeping me in y’all prayers. They can’t hold a real bitch down for too long! Stay prayed up. I love y’all. Don’t believe everything y’all see on the internet. Don’t believe the hype.”
The artist emphasized her commitment to her career, noting, “June 26, PRETTY OPP the tape. I wish I was out to help deliver it to y’all. Y’all know I’m 100 percent dedicated to my fans and my craft and my career. But I’m not. Free me. Love y’all.”
Representatives from the Chicago Police Department and the artist’s management team have been contacted for further comment regarding the ongoing legal proceedings.
