Mississippi rapper Superstar Pride has seemingly been released from jail after being charged with first-degree murder, quickly returning to his creative roots with the release of a new song and accompanying video titled “First Day Out.”
On Wednesday, August 26, the artist appeared on Instagram to share his first selfie since his 2023 incarceration. The image, which captured him smiling at a dentist’s office, was captioned, “You got to start somewhere. #firstdayout.” He followed the post with the release of his latest single, which features visuals of the rapper receiving what appears to be his first haircut since regaining his freedom.
A Return to Music After Legal Challenges
Superstar Pride was arrested in 2023 and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a man in Panola County, Mississippi. Authorities reported that the victim, who was later identified as the rapper’s barber, was discovered at a residence with fatal gunshot wounds. Following an investigation, Pride turned himself in to law enforcement.
The arrest occurred at a pivotal moment in his career, shortly after his 2022 breakout hit “Painting Pictures” had gained significant viral traction. Despite a bond hearing held a month after his arrest, a judge ordered that he remain in custody. He spent over three years behind bars before his recent release, the circumstances of which remain undisclosed at this time.
