Rick Ross has officially entered a plea of not guilty to one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery following his arrest earlier this week. The Miami-based artist appeared in court on Thursday morning, October 1, after voluntarily turning himself in to authorities to address the domestic violence allegations, as reported by WAPT 16. Following the formal plea, the rapper was released on a $5,000 bond.
During the court proceedings, video footage captured his attorney, Steve Sadow, requesting an expedited release, citing his client’s high-profile status. However, Judge Mindy S. Glazer remained impartial, stating, “I have no idea who you are, except for somebody here in the court who’s going to be treated fairly just like everybody else here.”
The legal situation stems from reports that the rapper’s ex-girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, contacted police on Tuesday, September 29. According to the police report, Kendrick alleged that the rapper became physically aggressive during an incident on August 28. She claimed the altercation was sparked by a social media post in which she was tagged, leading to accusations of infidelity. Kendrick alleged that the rapper struck her multiple times, restricted her breathing by twisting her hoodie collar, and slammed her against a wall.
Prior to contacting law enforcement, Kendrick had publicly shared her allegations online. The case remains ongoing as the legal process unfolds.
