A$AP Rocky Says Rihanna Is the ‘Love of My Life’

A$AP Rocky has found “the One” in Rihanna.

While they’ve remained coy about their long-rumored romance, the rapper officially confirms his relationship with Rihanna in a cover story for GQ‘s June/July issue.

When the topic of Rihanna was brought up in the magazine, Rocky couldn’t help but gush about his “lady,” who he declared “the love of my life.”

Rumors of a romance between the superstars date back to 2013, when Rocky opened for Rihanna’s “Diamonds World Tour.” They reignited after Rihanna’s breakup with Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel in January of last year.

Asked what it’s like to be in a relationship, Rocky responds, “So much better when you got the One. She amounts to probably, like, a million of the other ones.”

Adds Rocky, “I think when you know, you know. She’s the One.”

For Christmas last year, Rocky traveled with Rihanna to her native Barbados. “It was like a homecoming thing,” says Rocky, whose father emigrated from Barbados to the U.S. “It was crazy. I always imagined what it would be like for my dad, before he came to America. And I got to visit those places, and believe it or not, there was something nostalgic about it. It was foreign but familiar.”

Rocky has a family in his future. “If that’s in my destiny, absolutely,” he says when asked if he’s ready to become a father. “I think I’m already a dad! All these motherfuckers are already my sons–whatchu talkin’ ’bout!”

He laughs before adding, “Nah, but like, I think I’d be an incredible, remarkably, overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very.”

During the pandemic last summer, the couple went on a road trip across America on a tour bus, driving from L.A. to NYC. They listened to the Rolling Stones, the Grateful Dead, and Curtis Mayfield while cruising through Texas, Memphis, and a half dozen other cities. They stopped in a few national parks and Rocky dropped acid and made his own clothes on the bus.

“Being able to drive and do a tour without feeling like it was an occupation or an obligated job agreement, I feel like that experience is like none other,” Rocky recalls. “I never experienced nothing like it.”

While on the road, Rocky also recorded new music, which he’s confident is the best of his career. “Work with what you got,” he says of his DIY approach. “God blessed me with a lot, so I’m working with that, and that’s enough to make some fuckin’ fire.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the “Prettiest Man Alive” opens up for the first time about his stint in a Swedish jail in 2019. Rocky was confined to a single-person cell for 23 and a half hours a day. His incarceration made global headlines and caught the attention of then-President Donald Trump, who tweeted that he would personally vouch for Rocky’s bail.

Rocky, who was eventually found guilty and given a two-year conditional sentence, did not acknowledge Trump publicly after his release, but he was grateful, expressing his gratitude on a private phone call. “I was mad thankful that he did that, because he didn’t have to!” Rocky says of Trump.

According to Rocky, the support he received from the president and others “made me happy while being in there, because when you in jail, you feel like nobody cares. You can get lost, and you feel soulless. Like, you feel low, bro.”

While locked in his tiny cell, Rocky kept himself busy—praying, working out, and even designing a collection on spec for Parisian designer Marine Serre.

“I never thought that things that I imagined while I was in jail would come true,” he says. “And everything that I envisioned in prison came to fruition. ‘Cause I guess I manifested it. And I prayed! I really wanted to bless that situation and move on from it in a positive way. I was praying to stay strong, and God got me through shit like it was nothing! That shit was nothing.”
