All fans had to do was stay inside to enjoy Alessia Cara‘s Billboard Live At-Home performance on Friday (April 17), which raised money for Direct Relief to equip medical workers with much-needed supplies.
As song requests kept coming in from the comments section, Cara arranged an a cappella quarantine version of her No. 7 Billboard Hot 100 hit with Zedd “Stay” on the spot. “All you have to do is stay at home/ Just take your time/ The clock is ticking, so stay at home,” she sang the revised, timely chorus.
But the 23-year-old artist blew it out of the water with her “River of Tears” performance, with the help of a YouTube piano karaoke version that she also had to queue up for “Scars to Your Beautiful.” “My God, I don’t even remember this!” Cara exclaimed before diving into the lyrics. Fans hailed the flawless performance after heeding her occasional warnings that her voice wasn’t in its best shape since she was feeling ill.
One fan even asked, “Alessia is it okay if i tattoo this video on my forehead i never would have thought you’d sing river of tears this is a moment for the history books,” to which the Grammy-winning artist replied, “Absolutely, you can tattoo it on your forehead.”
