Alicia Keys Opens 'Dear Class of 2020'

Alicia Keys has a message for graduates of the class of 2020.

During YouTube Originals’ ‘Dear Class of 2020’ commencement, Alicia Keys opened the special by talking directly to the students missing out on their ceremonies due to the Coronavirus crisis, while mentioning the ongoing protests due to George Floyd’s death and police brutality.

“You’re showing that your generation is the one that’s going to heal us,” she said.”I will always be by your side, no matter where the fight for justice takes us next.”

“I think for the first time … we can see so clearly what injustice looks like And now we all can choose how to respond,” she said.

But Keys wanted the graduates to have fun, too. “Right now, at this moment, I hope you can laugh, smile and allow yourself to reflect on your accomplishments.

“We honor you and celebrate you,” she added. Watch the full address below.
