Amara La Negra turned her living room into “Club Amara,” with a full production that included a DJ, lights, smoke and back-to-back Amara hits, for her Billboard Live At-Home concert on Tuesday (April 21).
The singer-songwriter gave the ultimate at-home performance live from Miami to raise money for the Coalition for the Homeless and Downtown Women’s Center. “I miss performing. I miss being onstage. I miss the lights, the energy, and I thought, ‘I’m going to do something special for my followers and do something different.’ You guys deserve it,” Amara said before starting her set.
Alongside DJ Breezy, Amara performed a little bit of everything, including “There’s No Way,” “Insecure” and her new single “Ándale.” “I want to encourage you guys to stay home. I know everybody has been saying it, but with everything that is happening I think that it takes artists to continue to encourage you all to stay home. Find ways to be creative and productive. In this case, I made my own little club here at the house.”
To close her energetic performance, Amara signed off with Toño Rosario’s merengue hit “Kulikitaka” as an homage to her Dominican roots.
