The hardcore band signed to Epitaph earlier this year.
Australian hardcore crew Dregg has released their first music video after signing with Epitaph Records, a comical but hard-hitting social critique of the gate keeping system with the music business.
The timing of “Hectic” during the coronavirus crisis is a prescient coincident for the five-person group that combines hardcore, rap and metal into a blistering audio and visual assault. It’s clear early on in “Hectic” that the band has the potential to be an unbridled kinetic force for disruption at a time of great uncertainty. Their music represents an organized form of chaos — complete with screamo hooks, layered rap bars and R-rated cultural references meant to shock listeners out of complacency. Sure lead singer Christopher Mackertich likes to push the line, but the aggressiveness and masculinity of Dregg can not simply be placed within any one box. Instead, “Hectic” shows that Dregg is embracing their absurdist style while pushing even harder with their grinding sound and lyrics that don’t pretend to care what the old guard thinks.
