Avicii Hits No. 1 on Dance Club Songs Chart With ‘SOS’

Plus moves for Jax Jones, Martin Solveig & Madison Beer, Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber and Meduza.

Avicii, who died last year, achieves his first posthumous No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart (dated July 6) with “SOS,” featuring Aloe Blacc (2-1). Remixed by Laidback Luke and others, “SOS” is Avicii’s seventh total leader (and Blacc’s first).

Here’s a look at Avicii’s seven No. 1s on the Dance Club Songs chart:

“Collide” (Leona Lewis / Avicii, 2011, one week at No. 1)
“Levels” (2011)
“I Could Be The One” (Avicii vs Nicky Romero, 2013)
“Wake Me Up!” (two weeks, 2013)
“Hey Brother” (2014)
“Addicted To You” (2014)
“SOS” (feat. Aloe Blacc, 2019)

“SOS” also hit No. 1 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay (June 1) and achieved top 10 status, each with peaks on April 27, on several other dance charts, including Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (No. 2), Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales (No. 3) and Hot Dance/Electronic Songs (No. 6).

Meanwhile, Avicii sits at No. 1 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums for a third straight frame with TIM. The set earned 10,000 equivalent album units in the tracking week ending June 27, according to Nielsen Music.

On Dance/Mix Show Airplay, the trio of Jax Jones, Martin Solveig and Madison Beer dart to the top with “All Day and Night” (2-1). The first leader each for Jones and Beer, “Day” is the second topper for Solveig, his first since breakthrough hit “Hello” led for four weeks in 2011.

Furthermore on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber barrel 12-9 with “I Don’t Care.” The fifth top 10 for Sheeran, “Care” is also Bieber’s 16th: since the chart’s August 2003 inception, only David Guetta (25), Rihanna (24) and Calvin Harris (18) have scored more top 10s.

Shifting to Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Meduza motors 13-10 with “Piece Of Your Heart,” featuring GOODBOYS. The first top 10 there for both acts, “Piece” previously topped Dance Club Songs (No. 1 on May 25) and went top 10 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay (No. 5, May 11).
