Bad Bunny dropped a music video for “Yo Perreo Sola,” part of his chart-topping album YHLQMDLG, announcing the visual Friday (March 27) Instagram during his “183rd day of quarantine.”
Dubbing it “the most badass music video,” the Puerto Rican artist dresses in drag in his new clip in an effort to defend women’s rights.
The song, which translates to “I twerk alone,” is about a woman who likes to dance reggaeton alone and doesn’t need anyone’s company at the club. The track kicks off with the voice of emerging Puerto Rican artist Nesi (real name: Genesis Rios), whose infectious hook has made this an anthem for independent women.
Directed by Stillz and Benito himself, the colorful music video kicks off with Bad Bunny dressed in a red latex miniskirt and knee-high boots, as he pushes away a group of men who want to dance with him. In another scene, the Latin Grammy winner is spotted perreando in a green room, as the message “Ni Una Menos” appears in the background, in support of the feminist movement that campaigns against gender-based violence.
Bad Bunny is also joined by a group of women who are dancing freely to the song. “If she doesn’t want to dance with you, respect her, she twerks alone,” reads the empowering PSA message at the end.
