"When I make music, my vision goes beyond the numbers."
As Bad Bunny makes history on the album charts with YHLQMDLG, he also breaks the record for the most career entries on the Hot Latin Songs chart. On the March 14-dated tally, he places 20 tracks on the tally (all from the new album), which brings his total entries on the chart to a record 83, surpassing runner-up Daddy Yankee’s 74 hits.
“When I make music, my vision goes beyond the numbers,” Bad Bunny tells Billboard. “That’s why YHLQMDLG is historic! Thank you all who believed and who continue to believe in me. I do what I want, and it’s based on feelings; I don’t think about it. I do it for you and for the faith you have in me. I Love You!”
With Bad Bunny’s tunes ranking at Nos. 1-3, 5-6 and 8-23, the artist also sets new records for the most concurrently charting titles in the top 10 (eight), in the top 20 (18) and in the top 25 (20). Among those songs: a debut at No. 1 from the album, “Si Veo a Tu Mama,” his fifth leader.
With eight top 10s on the current Hot Latin Songs chart, Bad Bunny outdoes himself as he previously held the record for the most simultaneous top 10s, with six (Sept. 9, 2019-dated list). With 18 tunes in the top 20, he bests J Balvin’s nine-title mark (Feb 15-dated list). Likewise, with 20 simultaneous songs above the top 25 ranking, he surpasses Joan Sebastian’s 11-title streak (Aug. 1, 2015-dated chart).
The Hot Latin Songs chart blends airplay, digital sales and streaming data. Bad Bunny’s takeover of the chart was mostly attributed to streaming activity. Of the 20 songs, 18 debuts and two are holdovers: “Vete” at No. 3 and “Ignorantes” with Sech at No. 5.
Notably, Bad Bunny remains one title shy from holding the record for the most concurrent charting titles on the entire chart in one chart week. Ozuna placed 21 songs on the Sept. 8, 2018-dated list thanks to the No. 1 debut of Aura on Top Latin Albums.
Beyond his Hot Latin Songs appropriation, Bad Bunny also conquers the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart as he places 11 songs in the current chart week, the most for any Latin artist performing solely in Spanish. The core Latin act to follow? Well, himself, as he secured four titles on the Hot 100 chart dated Sept. 14, 2019.
Meanwhile, YHLQMDLG’s lead single “Vete” climbs 6-1 on Latin Airplay thanks to a lofty 44% boost in audience impressions in the week ending March 8 (to 15 million), according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. “Vete” is his eighth No. 1 on the tally.
As Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG arrives at No. 1 on Top Latin Albums and Latin Rhythm Albums, he replaces himself at No. 1 on both charts. The last artist to achieve the feat? Himself, when OASIS, with J Balvin, bowed at No. 1 on both charts (July 13, 2019) and bumped X100PRE to the runner-up slot.
