Beyonce and Jay-Z have been touring the world together and hitting up stages hand in hand for their second go of their On The Run Tour. Beyonce will be switching things up in the coming weeks since her involvement with the City of Hope gala will see her performing solo. City of Hope is a research and treatment center for those with life-threatening illnesses. Every year the organization recognizes a person whose work has fundamentally impacted music and entertainment.
This year chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell Music Jon Platt (who has worked with Bey since 2005) is being honoured and will be presented with the award by Jay Z.
“Beyoncé agreed to perform without a moment’s hesitation, and that wasn’t just for me,” Jon said in a press release. “She wanted to be part of our celebration for the patients, doctors, scientists, and nurses who make City of Hope a place where miracles can happen. That ’s what makes her a cultural icon. She’s not only a genius, in a class of her own, but she has phenomenal heart and soul, and she knows how to use them.”
The event takes place on October 11th in Los Angeles.
