Delving into her Spanish roots, rising star Biig Piig releases her first single of 2021 ‘Cuenta Lo’, a track that explores ideas of money, sex and power. The track is based around the fact that Biig Piig used to be a poker dealer, a huge factor and inspiration for the visuals of the song.
Latin influence music has become more popular within the Western world, with musicians such as Kali Uchis and Bad Bunny paving the way for artists to explore and create multilingual releases, that circle back to their roots. The half Irish and half Spanish Biig Piig is an example of an artist who has embraced this. After spending a large part of her childhood in Spain, she is now based in West London. ‘Cuenta Lo’ follows on from her 2019 EP ‘No Place for Patience, Vol.3’, while Biig Piig also released a collaborative mixtape with the NiNE8 Collective in September 2020, ‘No Smoke Vol.2’.
