Billie Eilish, Takashi Murakami Collaborate for Uniqlo Clothing Line

Billie Eilish, fashion designer? On Monday (May 18), Uniqlo announced a new line of apparel by the pop star is on its way, designed in collaboration with Takashi Murakami.

The Billie Eilish by Takashi Murakami collection fuses the singer’s off-beat design aesthetic with the Japanese art legend’s subversive whimsy. T-shirts will come in a variety of styles, many emblazoned with Eilish’s name and image surrounded by Murakami’s trademark smiling flowers. Others repurpose the iconic shrugging figure featured on much of the superstar’s tour merch and branding.

While the news comes on the heels of Eilish postponing the remainder of her latest world tour due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Uniqlo line is far from the first time the duo have worked together. In April 2019, Murakami — who has worked with Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Pharrell and others — both directed and animated the official anime-style music video for Eilish’s hit single “You Should See Me in a Crown.” The video currently boasts more than 69 million views on YouTube.

The Billie Eilish by Takashi Murakami line will be available on Uniqlo’s website beginning May 25 at 9 a.m. Get a sneak peek at some of the designs in Uniqlo’s official announcement below.
