Black Music Innovators: Maxo Kream’s Playlist Focuses On Rap’s New Generation

As part of Billboard’s Black Music Month celebration, we've asked Black artists spanning all genres to compile their own unique playlist exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. Each song they've chose reflects their admiration for fellow artists — from previous generations to the new millennial era — who have made an impact on the culture. Today, Houston rapper Maxo Kream shares his soundtrack.

"The impact of the older songs is easy speaks for itself," Maxo Kream tells Billboard about his curation. "'To this day, I still listen to them.

"Nowadays, I listen to Future more than anything — his music will always inspire me. Everyone on this playlist is doing their thing. I'm sure they will influence lives like 50 Cent, Nas and The Game did for me."

Maxo Kream is set to release his major label debut, Brandon Banks, on July 19 RCA. The LP will feature previously heard singles like "Meet Again," "Still," and "She Live" alongside fellow Houstonian Megan Thee Stallion.
