"Black Panther" Named Top-Grossing Superhero Film Of All Time

Black Pantherjust became the top-grossing superhero film all time in the U.S. after surpassing the $623.4 millionThe Avengersmadein 2012. According toThe Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios and Disney reached the milestone on Saturday (March 24).

TheRyan Coogler-directedfilm is also one seven films to ever earn $600 million or more domestically and has beensmashing recordssince its February 16 release.

Black Pantherhas grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide and by the end Sunday (March 26), it will reportedly surpassIron Man 3to become the third-biggest comic book adaptation behindThe AvengersandAvengers: Age Ultron.

The nearly all-black cast featuresChadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis.

The movie was anchored by theBlack Panther: The Albumsoundtrack, which was curated by Kendrick Lamar and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. The project features Future, Jay Rock, K. Dot, James Blake, SZA, ScHoolboy Q and more.

“All The Stars” featuring SZA and “King’s Dead” featuring Lamar, Future, Jay Rock and James Black both received visual treatments.

Black Panther 2is reportedly in the works and Marvel Studios say it already has a“solid direction.”
