Blackpink (back) in your area! On Friday (June 26), the South Korean girl group debuted their long-awaited comeback single “How You Like That” and its edgy accompanying music video.
The colorful clip finds Jennie, Lisa, Rosé and Jisoo delivering a both a message of resilience and a blistering kiss-off to an unseen foe, all while rocking a parade high-fashion looks among Trojan horses, fake snow machines, burning umbrellas and more.
“Again in this dark place, light up the sky/ While looking in your eyes, I’ll kiss you goodbye/ Laugh all you want while you still can/ Because it’s about to be your turn, 1,2,3,” Rosé promises on the track’s first pre-chorus before tossing the swaggering, hip-hop-inflected chorus to rappers Jennie and Lisa.
“How You Like That” arrives on the heels of “Sour Candy,” the group’s recent collaboration with Lady Gaga from the latter’s 2020 album Chromatica. The sweet-meets-sour album cut gave the girls their highest-charting entry to date on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 33 upon the LP’s May 29 release.
In tandem with the new music video, Blackpink also launched a new, official Twitter account — @BLACKPINK — which will serve as a second resource for Blinks alongside their original @ygofficialblink account.
Produced by Teddy, the new song also marks the idols’ first single since “Kill This Love” was released more than a year ago in April 2019. Jennie, Lisa, Rosé and Jisoo will debut the track live for the first time on Friday night’s episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden. The girl group’s long-awaited debut studio album is currently set to drop sometime in September via YG Entertainment/Interscope Records.
