It’s becoming more and more likely that Paul George’s first season with the OKC Thunder will also be his last. Rumors continue to suggest that the 28-year old All-Star is committed to playing for his hometown Los Angeles Lakers.
Earlier this month, ESPN’s Ryen Russillo, noted that a trusted source informed him that George “is gone” in terms of his stay in Oklahoma City. Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum echoed as much during an appearance on the WojPod with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski yesterday afternoon, saying “he’s going to enjoy that California sunshine.”
“I wish PG (Paul George) nothing but the best. I know he’s going to enjoy that California sunshine,” McCollum told Wojnarowski. After the crowd’s reaction, McCollum added, “What? It’s the truth.”
In 79 games with the Thunder this season, Paul George averaged 21.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. Even before the trade last off-season that sent George from Indiana to OKC, it was reported that he was committed to playing for the Lakers. Starting July 1, he’ll have his chance to sign with any team of his choosing.
