Brad Paisley Kicks Off 'Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular' With 'American Saturday Night'

Brad Paisley opened 2020’s re-imagined Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular on NBC with a good dose of country, performing “American Saturday Night” live from the Grand Ole Opry.

“American Saturday Night,” off of Paisley’s 2009 album of the same name, set a feel-good tone for the night’s program, which was hosted in New York City but featured musical performances from artists around the country. Paisley, on stage at the Opry, appropriately swapped his “live from New York” lyric to “live from Nashville” this year.

Without a live audience in front of him, Paisley called out “Happy 4th of July!” to all the viewers at home.

He returned to the Opry stage later in the night for an encore performance — this time playing new song “No I in Beer.”

John Legend, The Black Eyed Peas, Lady A, The Killers, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley and national youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman also were on the lineup before this year’s fireworks display. An encore presentation of the show will follow at 10:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
