BTS took to social media on Monday (May 11) to live stream a group brainstorming session on YouTube about their upcoming album.
Over the course of the 30-minute chat, the K-pop seven-piece discussed potential album themes concepts and ideas led by Jimin, who will take the lead in overseeing the LP’s creative direction.
“I’d like for the album to not be very dark. Rather than explicit comfort, I’d like it if we could offer a more metaphorical message like ‘Spring Day’ to give hope to everyone,” said Suga (as translated by Soompi), while RM suggested, “I want to include the message that no matter what’s going on in the outside world, our lives go on.”
Meanwhile, V referenced the group’s 2018 Love Yourself: Tear album cut “So What” as inspiration for a future upbeat track and Jin chose to focus on empathy as a potential theme for the album’s songs.
No matter what messages and influences the boy band settles on, the upcoming project will serve as the follow-up to their 2020 album Map of the Soul: 7, which featured singles “Black Swan” and “On” — both of which topped Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart upon their release.
