Christie’s is gearing up for The Art of F.P.Journe, the largest thematic auction for the independent horologer. Taking place in Geneva this spring, the auction house will be presenting a collection of 40 timepieces spanning emblematic references, as well as rare, and special editions.

Among the impressive ensemble of timekeeping offerings, one of the main highlights is a platinum Tourbillon Souverain with a superb jade dial. Touted as a “truly magnificent timepiece,” only a few were made with such previous materiality, which adds to its uniqueness and rarity. Also made encase in platinum is the highly exclusive Octa Calendrier, starring a black mother-of-pearl dial. This is a rare timekeeper to see at an auction, as only 15 pieces were made for Singaporean retailer, Sincere Fine Watches.

An early 2000 example of the ‘Pré-Souscription’ platinum Chronomètre à Résonance, as well as a 2010 Centigraphe Souverain platinum ergonomic chronograph featuring an iconic “Ferrari red dial” will also be included in the lot. Other noteworthy pieces to look out for are a green dialed Chronomètre Souverain made in auguration to F.P. Journe’s first Dubai boutique opening, and an ultra-light titanium Octa LineSport in a deep blue dial.

Remi Guillemin, Head of Europe Watches for Christie’s states says “The Art of F.P. Journe will be a historic sale, a must-attend event, and we look forward to bringing together collectors from around the globe to celebrate these iconic timepieces by a modern watchmaking genius.”

The Art of F.P. Journe live auction will take place on May 12 in Geneva’s Four Season Hotel des Bergues. For more information, visit Christie’s official website.
