The 2020 CMT Music Awards have been rescheduled for Oct. 14. The awards show, originally scheduled for June 3, has been pushed back due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“Our top priority this last month has been rebuilding our hometown of Nashville following the tornado and ensuring the safety of our fans, employees, artists and partners during the COVID-19 crisis,” a CMT spokesperson said in a statement.
“As we look forward to celebrating country music’s biggest stars together with our community and viewers, we will continue to follow the guidance of the CDC and local public health officials.”
The news comes days after the annual Nashville-based CMA Fest was cancelled over concerns about COVID-19. The festival, originally scheduled for June 4-7 2020, will return June 10-13, 2021 according to the Country Music Association.
Meanwhile, the Academy of Country Music Awards were postponed to September 2020. The ACM Awards were initially scheduled for April 5 live from Las Vegas on CBS. Instead, the station will now broadcast ACM Presents: Our Country on Sunday. The two-hour show airs at 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS and will feature some of country music’s biggest stars performing from their homes.
