CMT's Kenny Rogers Benefit For MusiCares: Details

The music world mourned the loss of Kenny Rogers last month, and on April 8 CMT will celebrate the late legend with CMT GIANTS Kenny Rogers: A Benefit For MusiCares.

The special, which airs on CMT at 8:00 p.m. ET, will serve as a tribute to Rogers’ life and music.

The event will include virtual performances and interviews from Dolly Parton, Gavin DeGraw, Jason Isbell & Amanda Shires, Jennifer Nettles, Lady Antebellum, Lionel Richie, Michael McDonald, Randy Houser, Rascal Flatts and Vince Gill. Additional acts are expected to be featured throughout the special and will be filmed directly from their homes. Rare archival photos, interviews and performances by Rogers will also air.

“Kenny Rogers transcended genres and generations with his musical versatility, legendary collaborations and timeless appeal, and we’re honored to pay tribute to his legacy,” said Margaret Comeaux, executive producer, CMT, in a statement. “Particularly in these turbulent times, we’ll stop and take a moment to allow the memory of our dear friend Kenny to bring us together and inspire us to lend support to those in the music community who are most in need.”

Throughout the airing, viewers can donate to MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund. Funds raised will go directly to the music creators and industry professionals who have the greatest need due to the coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, half of the funds raised will go directly to the Nashville country community.

Rogers died on March 20 from natural causes. He was 81.
