Colbie Caillat hosted a Billboard Live At-Home performance alongside her ex-fiancé and Gone West guitarist Justin Young on Thursday (April 16) to raise money for the American Red Cross.
The bandmates announced their breakup on social media just two weeks ago, on April 2, but the two remain quarantining together in their Nashville home — hanging with their dogs Mate and Dorothy, playing music, reading books and going on walks. What appears to be no trouble in paradise doesn’t translate in the message embedded in Gone West’s first single from last year, “What Could’ve Been.”
“This is one of the last songs we wrote for the album, but it felt special from the moment we wrote it,” Young described while introducing the song, which will appear on their upcoming LP Canyon, due June 12. “And it’s a song about two people looking back at a relationship and kind of feeling that same sense of regret.”
