Dak Prescott is still looking to get his money from the Dallas Cowboys.
and it doesn’t seem like anything is going to be resolved anytime soon. Prescott doesn’t seem to want to accept what the Cowboys are offering him, while the team is staying firm on the number and term that they have provided him with. Needless to say, it’s been a rough month for Cowboys fans who just want to see their franchise QB get his money.
In a recent interview with ProFootballTalk, Cowboys COO Stephen Jones spoke about Dak’s contract issues and made an interesting revelation about why a deal hasn’t been put in place. Essentially, they don’t want Prescott to take up too much cap space as it could lead to having a weaker team due to a lack of monetary resources.
“There’s all sorts of analytics out there that show if your quarterback takes up too big a percentage of your salary cap, that it decreases your chances to win,” Jones said.
This is obviously an interesting admission for many reasons. The Dallas Cowboys are one of the richest teams in football and some believe they are being too stingy with Dak. Clearly, they want to make sure they have the best team moving forward and are simply looking out for their best interests.
