Coming hot on the heels of ‘Kappa’ – May’s super fun back to back with fellow Londoner Xadi – new single ‘Shine!’ firms Daniel Adé’s spot in the London alternative scene.
Riding the beat with ease, the track comes with a polish matched by Adé’s confidence, ‘I shine/ I don’t walk/ I glide’ he spits. His ability to bring the spontaneous energy and punchlines of a grime flow to clean spaced-out trap production sets him apart. On ‘Shine!’ we hear an artist confidently on the rise, but with no signs of compromising on his personality. We know where he’s from ‘raised in Barking’ and what he’s about, ‘tryna get plaques/but stats aren’t everything’.
On Kappa he was ‘sippin’ on Tetley’ with a Digestive and now, tongue firmly in cheek he tells us, ‘They say you are what you drink I’m Stella’. We’ll raise a glass, (or a tinny) when his new project, TONK! drops later this month.
